As we headed out this morning we decided to drive to the end of Lightner Creek Road where our RV park is located. It wasn’t far before it ended at a large ranch. We headed back down the road and turned into Perins Peak Wildlife Area not far from our RV park. It was a pretty drive to the end where there was a nice wilderness trail with probably 10 cars. We let Maverick out and walked a short way to down the trail. Given more time this might have been a nice hike. As it was we needed breakfast so we cut it short.
Donna has been a real crepe fan since we visited France many years ago. She wanted to try out Michel’s Corner Crepes downtown Durango. Unfortunately neither of our crepes were that good. Still it was very nice to sit outside in beautiful weather and have a late breakfast. After our breakfast we walked to the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Museum. This is a free and great steam engine railroad museum all indoors. If ever in Durango you should definitely check out the museum if you have any interest in rail or old steam engines. After killing time around Durango’s downtown we ate at Steamworks Brewery again. We shared the Panko Fish & Chips and the food was very good but this time our server wasn’t very good. We ate on the patio again but this time we were in the sun and got a little hot. Wandering our way back to the coach we drove through the Twin Buttes new residential area. I thought the road led to the actual Twin Buttes you could see but it didn’t. The houses were very cool “Mountain-Modern” style but also VERY expensive.
